Greetings from Cal Lutheran!

I attended the most recent NACAC in Houston and I left feeling energized for the work we will get to do with our students this year. As someone who spent six years on the high school side of things, I know this is a busy time for all college counselors. However, I do know that I loved having a quick and easy way to remember deadlines and updates about universities.

So, the Cal Lutheran admission team would like to welcome you to our high school college counselor newsletter! This newsletter will be available to you on the first Monday of each month, and will be filled with engaging information about Cal Lutheran such as application deadlines, news, and some fun trivia. We hope you find it useful for your students.

UPCOMING DEADLINES

October 1: The first date to submit a FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application (CADAA). Our FAFSA code is 001133.
October 15: Deadline to apply for the Spring 2023 semester.
November 15: Our Early Action (EA) application deadline. Please note that for students to qualify for our Presidential Scholarship (which ranges from $25,000 to FULL tuition), they must apply by the EA deadline. Students will find out their decision by mid-January.

RECENT NEWS

U.S. News ranks Cal Lutheran 6th in West!
We've jumped two spots to our highest position ever in the U.S. News Best Colleges rankings — sixth among 130 ranked regional universities throughout 15 Western states. We are pumped about this!

Cal Lutheran receives $1.3M grant
Recently Cal Lutheran was approved for a five-year grant to continue the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, which supports students in underrepresented groups who want to attain doctoral degrees.

UPDATES & HIGHLIGHTS

Our new Public Price Promise Scholarship

Our Public Price Promise Scholarship criteria has changed! Starting with the Fall 2023 class, Cal Lutheran will award the Public Price Promise to students from a California high school with an admission GPA* of 3.9 and higher. *CLU Admission GPA is your 9-11 weighted GPA.

The award amount for 2022-23 will be around $29,000. The scholarship is renewable for subsequent years.

The Public Price Promise scholarship awards students the difference in average cost of attendance between Cal Lutheran and University of California schools. This is important because your students get the experience of a private school education for the cost of a public school. Also, we no longer require proof of a UC admission letter! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our office or your school’s admission counselor.
